Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Virginia Funes, LCSW-C, and I am a behavioral therapist with a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges. Born and raised in rural Vermont, my journey toward becoming a therapist was deeply rooted in the values of empathy and compassion that I learned from my family. Growing up, I spent my evenings and weekends alongside my grandmother, a dairy farmer, and my mother, a nurse at the VA, who both instilled in me a profound respect for caring for others.
After graduating college, I began my career as an in-home counselor, working closely with at-risk children and their families. Witnessing the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity inspired me to deepen my expertise, and in 2019, I returned to school to pursue my master's in social work. Over the past three years, I have honed my skills in outpatient therapy, specializing in trauma-informed care and utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and mindfulness practices. I have experience treating anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, depressive disorders, PTSD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, substance use disorders, and adjustment disorders.
For the past two years, I practiced in-person therapy in Maryland before recently relocating back to my home state of Vermont. My life experiences—including a decade of traveling the Southeast with my husband during his U.S. Army career—have profoundly shaped the therapist and person I am today. Now a parent to a lively toddler, I am constantly reminded to slow down and find joy in life's small moments, a perspective I bring into my therapeutic approach.

Virginia is an incredible clinician and leader. She maintains her values and ethics while serving others with compassion and authenticity. Virginia has always been a team player with leadership qualities that her peers looked up to and enhanced her ability to embrace any situation she’s presented with. I was fortunate enough to observe Virginia through licensure and how she embraced clinical knowledge and application of social work values and ethics. As her previous supervisor, I would highly recommend Virginia as a clinician and her breadth of knowledge in the field. Her kindness is truly encompassed through the work she does and the compassion she embraces in every situation for the betterment of her clients.
Elizabeth Dean, LCSW-C, Youth Villages
Virginia is an excellent clinician who values integrity, compassion, and determination. She has a very warm presence and excels in creating strong therapeutic alliances. Not only does she strive to provide the best quality of care for her clients, but Virginia also works seamlessly in a team environment to problem-solve clinical challenges and seek support. I had the honor of supervising Virginia in her previous role and was consistently impressed by her work ethic and motivation to improve client care.
